Birds
The Cosanga area is known for world-class birdwatching. From brightly colored and often seen Green Jays to more cryptic and secretive Ant Pittas there is plenty to see for both experienced and novice birders. Click here for snazzy photos of pretty birds.
Insects
Squeamish about bugs? Ecuador is a great place to get over that. Scientists can’t get an exact handle on how many there are, but a guess at butterflies alone is around 4,000 species in the country. To start you on your bug love, say hello to this cutie, Pyrrhopyge papius, a caterpillar.
Plants
Do you like plants? We have plants. The cloud forest is like a giant greenhouse full of house plants, but with no roof, and the sprinkler system is always on. You may want a raincoat.
Mammals
We’ll be honest, mammals here can be hard to see, but when they do show their faces it’s worth seeing. Like this weirdo (Little Red Brocket) that just showed up in our neighborhood one day.
